Eric LaPorte, DVM
Veterinarian
Eric was born and raised on a farm near Bonnyville, Alberta. Eric worked in the construction industry and earned his Journeyman in carpentry at Lakeland College. He then continued his studies at Lakeland College and earned a diploma in Animal Sciences where one of his professors also fostered an interest in veterinary medicine. After working on a dairy in Manitoba and then a mixed farm near Drumheller for 4 years he returned to the University of Alberta to study Animal Sciences. He then attended the UCVM in Calgary and graduated in 2013. Eric has an interest in cow-calf operations focusing on herd health and has worked with cattle management software to record inventory, treatments, preg-checks, protocols, and other data on-farm to assist in data-based decision making on the farm.
Outside of the clinic, Eric can be found tinkering, fixing, working on small construction and renovation projects, and also enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, camping, scuba diving.
Shannon Stannard, RVT
Veterinary Technician/ Owner
Shannon grew up on a Dairy/Beef farm near Sherwood Park. As a result of her love for cattle, she decided to go to Lakeland College for Animal Health Technology where she graduated in 1986
She worked at a small animal clinic for a couple years but moved onto Large animal where her heart is. She started at Stockyards Vet in 1989 and worked her way through the variety of positions within the practice until the practice came up for sale. Dr. Rick Faintuck and Shannon partnered and bought Stockyards in 1997. Sadly, Dr. Rick passed away in 2019 and Shannon took on the challenge of keeping Stockyards moving forward!
Outside work Shannon and her husband, Brad have 3 beautiful children, now grown and one grandson. She stays actively involved in the community and being a Girl Guides leader for over 30 years. They enjoy traveling, cruises, camping and hiking.

Faith Cammock, RVT
Farm Veterinary Technician
Faith grew up in the small town of smoky lake, Alberta. She’s had a passion for animals since she can remember, always knowing that she would eventually make a career out of her passion. She graduated Lakeland college in 2022 and went straight to a mixed animal practice.
In October of 2023 she got her bovine ultrasound certification and quickly realized that’s where her true passions lie. She was given the opportunity to put her passion for bovine medicine into use when she joined the stockyards team in 2024.
You will usually find Faith on farm calls either behind a cow or behind the microscope semen testing, she truly enjoys being on farm calls and getting to know all our amazing producers.
Outside of work she loves to spend her time outside with cows, her dog and her family.
Maegan McCoy, RVT
In Clinic Veterinary Technician
Maegan graduated from Lakeland College in 2020. After a brief time working in small animal practice, she joined Stockyards Veterinary Services in 2021.
In addition to her role at Stockyards, Maegan also works as a zookeeper at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, combining her passion for animal care across a wide variety of species.
Maegan is certified to perform pregnancy checks and can most often be found working out of our Edmonton office.
Outside of work, Maegan enjoys spending time with her husband and one-year-old daughter, as well as caring for their dogs, cat, horses, and in-laws cattle. She also loves spending quality time with family whenever she can.
Sarah Stannard
Edmonton Office Coordinator Team Lead/Client Services
Sarah grew up near North Cooking Lake on her family’s farm, where her love for the outdoors, helping others, and stepping into leadership roles took root early. When the cattle left the farm in 2003, those passions remained strong and continued to shape her path forward.
She graduated from MacEwan University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology. Her connection to the veterinary world began long before that—Sarah started working part‑time at the Tofield Vet Clinic in 2005. Throughout her university years, she balanced both part‑time and full‑time roles at the clinic, gaining deep experience and strong product knowledge.
After completing her degree, Sarah worked as a Child and Youth Counsellor, supporting young people and families. In 2021, she returned to the veterinary field full‑time, joining the Edmonton office where her genuine enjoyment of client interactions—whether in person or over the phone—continue.
Outside of work, Sarah is a Senior Volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada, a lifelong passion. At home, Sarah and her husband Keenan stay busy with their three energetic young boys—and their cat – who you will often find roaming the trails of Ardrossan.
Gaile Ash
Tofield Office Coordinator Team Lead/Client Services
Gaile grew up on a poultry farm north of Edmonton. Moved to an acreage in 1993 and started at Stockyards in December 2007. You will see Gaile in our Tofield office helping clients with feed and personal accounts. Yet her office specialty is cuddling Daisy the office cat. Gaile and her husband, Gordie at home enjoy horses, golfing and gardening.
Nicole Gunderson
Receptionist / Client Services
Nicole processed and rode pens with her husband at Highland Feeders Ltd, before moving back home to be close with family and build a house of their own. In 2013 Nicole started working at Viking Auction Mart penning, clerking and processing. She joined the Stockyards team in March 2020. At home Nicole and her husband have 2 children and stay busy attending cattle shows and jr. events with the kids. They continue to grow/expand their own purebred cattle herd.
